I Love my Mum!

Family Friday

As usual, being Friday I am off to Mum and Dads this afternoon. This particular Friday has been in the planning since Christmas! Are we playing games....nnnoooooooooo....Not this week...Why??? Because tonight is.......
CHICK FLICK NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, the plan is, we fix dinner ( Tuna steaks, Baked potatoes and salad), then after dinner and chatting with Dad, he gets relegated upstairs to the computer room so we can have a GIRLS ONLY Chick Flick night!



We have the DVD of Mamma Mia all ready, We have selected which polishes we are having on our finger and toe nails, Mum has Butterkist popcorn at the ready, and I'm taking my sewing, mum has her knitting, just in case our fingers start itching!
REALLY looking forward to it, I must confess to already having seen Mamma Mia. Although I absolutely LOVE Abba music, I was a little disappointed with the film, thought it was a little silly, but that's just my personal opinion ( Remember Guys,I'm an avid Big Brother fan, that means I have only 1 brain cell!!)
Today the weather is absolutely atrocious! Its extremely windy and raining hard, I'm so glad I don't need to go out today, apart from later on, to pick Ryan up from school.Turned really really cold too :-( Not looking good for a nice family walk in the country tomorrow!
Ah well, Best get stitching my lighthouse for my SAL project, I'm back at work on Monday so need to make the most of this time!

Golfer of the week!!!

Had a lovely day today, Met with my Best Friend Carmel for coffee and gossip! Was great to catch up and be in the land of the living again! And more importantly, she filled me in on all the work gossip ready for my return next week!
Ryan had Beavers tonight and had a little Chinese New Year Celebration, How cute is that!
He also lost ANOTHER tooth!!! 2 in less than a week! At this rate the Tooth fairy will be filing for Bankruptcy!
The tooth he lost today was one of his front top teeth, the other one was already gone, so he now has a HUGE gap, of course, being a boy, this is just the best!He can stick his tongue through the gap, and whistle through it! Marvellous! I was just thankful that at last the tooth was out, It was hanging on a thread all day and he was wobbling it and making me feel sick! eeewwww
Mind the Gap folks!!


Tomorrow Uncle Mark is coming round in the Evening so of course Ryan is made up! ( And so am I if truth be known!)

Baby Bro!

Today I was a busy bee, This morning managed a little stitching as well as washing ironing cleaning and prepping for dinner, Dinner at my Mums, How did I get roped into cooking!!
I did my tried and Tested Cottage pie, well, actually... when I say MY, Its' loosely based on Gordon Ramseys recipe ( Hey any excuse to look at pictures of Gordon huh!)
As well as Minced beef and onions, I add grated carrot and copious amounts of worcestershire sauce to spice up the gravy.Then I add grated cheese in the mashed potato top, and sprinkled on top too, before browning under the grill.
And whats the reason for all this? My baby brother was visiting!
My Brother, Mark, is in the Royal Air Force, based in Oxfordshire, so we don't get to see him and his family as often as we would like.
This week he is undertaking a training course only 40 minutes drive away from Liverpool, so will be spending each night at my Mums.
So tonight Ryan and went for dinner,I of course, TOOK dinner! It was great to have Mark there with my Parents, and Ryan just LOVES his Uncle!!
Mark is both a Karate and Kickboxing Champion,as well as a teacher of various Martial Arts, he also represents England in the Karate World Championships and in his "day job" in the RAf, works on Helicopters ; what 7 year old boy WOULDN'T be awestruck by an Uncle like that!!

They played Golf and did normal "Fighty" boy stuff! Ryan has been so full of it since he came home! Good for him to have such a good role model!

Sunday with my Family

Today I've had a lovely day at home with Frank and Ryan, now I'm feeling a lot better I'm able to be more active with my family again!
This morning Ryan made his first Cheese toastie! One of his weekend homework assignments was to follow written instructions, so I gave him simple instructions for a cheese toastie and he made it himself in our "Baby George"!
I think giving kids confidence to cook is a great idea and one I'm very keen to pursue!
I got up early, 2 hours before the boys, and got all the ironing and cleaning out of the way, prep'd the veg for dinner and got myself showered and ready. Then spent the whole day with my wonderful boys! We played on the wii, practised golf,had a lovely family walk,and settled down to watch the Merseyside Derby! For those of you not from Britain, that means both of our Local Liverpool Football teams ( Liverpool and Everton) play against each other. Ryan is a Liverpool Supporter and Frank is an Evertonian!
Luckily for me, the score was 1-1!!

Phew!!

Am now watching MY Tv programme! Dancing on Ice, before I bath Ryan!
Really enjoyed today! Hope ya'll had a great weekend too!

Friday Night at Mums!

It was my usual Friday with my Mum and Dad, I made chicken salad with New potatoes with Mum for dinner, then we played upwords ( See picture!) and watched the "Celebrity Big Brother" Final together!
It was Fun!!!!!
Here is my gorgeous 60 year old Mum!!! I think she looks fab!!

 

Good Friends

This a post to say a big THANK YOU to a friend who has become very special to me these past few months.
I met Shellie through Blogland and our shared love of Cross stitching, and with me being off work at the moment, have been chatting online most mornings after our babies have been dropped off at school.
This Lady has a heart of gold, and we constantly amazed at how much we have in common, our Shared love of the Carry on films, similar tastes in cross stitch design ,same coloured living rooms , we have the same board games etc etc, funny the things you discover about people during conversations!We are Pea's in a pod!
Just look at all these All our Yesterdays charts I received through the post yesterday! Shellie had all these charts as duplicates and decided to share them with me, isn't that such a sweet and thoughful gesture! Thank you so much for your Friendship Shellie!


May I also just mention some other special Ladies!
Krystal, who has been one of my Closest friends since we were 11 years old! Despite living on the other side of the World. We started as Penfriends at school age, this continued through adulthood,marriage,births,deaths and her continued support and friendship remains as a wonderful presence in my Life.

And last but certainly note least, Gaynor. I have recently become aquainted, through Blogland, with this wonderfully Generous,funny,charming and thoughtful Lady. Her Blog posts are always eagerly anticipated, and her Happy, down to earth Nature shines through in her writing. I have enjoyed getting to know her and learning about her family and the wonderfully green life they live ( Which is quite a contrast to a City dweller!) and I hugely enjoy our journey with its' ups and downs ( No doubt!) through the Stitch-a-long she runs.

So 3 special Ladies, 3 special friends, and 3 big Thank You's for Cheering me up through this blasted illness!

You are all special and important to me and long may our Friendship continue!

Nice Day!

Had a really nice day today, Got lots of washing done, Chatted online with Shellie, and did quite a bit on my SAL project, Spent lots of lovely time with Ryan this evening, I picked him from after shool Golf club, then of course his head was full of Golf! After dinner we played Tiger Woods Golf on the Xbox, Golf on the Wii and he taught me some Chipping action! We enjoyed relaying stories of Holidays at Bedtime and we wished for some nice weather this weekend so we can go out to the park!

Bess, Soup and Docs!

Hi Guys! Have had a pretty good and Productive day today!
Firstly I cleaned, a lot! And at last got round to cleaning the ikky fish tank! eeeuuuwwww! You all know how I just LOVE to do that!
Then I went to the doctors, He has given me a special antibioic mouthwash to gargle wish, hey anything is worth a shot! He confirmed that my throat is so swollen that it is nearly fully closed at the back?! ( But Girls I can still manage to stuff a packet of crisps down it!? )
He has signed me off work this week, and also next week.
And finally, after dropping my sick note off at work and picking Ry up from school ( He's now gone to his nans for tea) I've made some lovely Leek and Potato soup, I just love Homemade soup! So thats my dinner sorted, and probably lunch for the next 3 days too! Yummy! On Monday I made Carrot and Coriander soup, That was lovely too, ALTHOUGH it did look like something out of Shrek! It was a pretty yukky greeny brown colour, I used a whole bunch of coriander! Tasted wonderful though! Heres some pics of my soup and my Bess! Just click on them to enlarge.
Am just watching the dvd "Mamma Mia" and having a good old Abba Sing-a-long! I Love Abba! Give me the 70's and 80's anyday!!

Tuesday ramblings

Hey Guys! Happy Tuesday! And for my American friends, Happy Inauguration Day!
I'm feeling nice and chirpy today, trying not to let the demon throat get to me anymore!
Had a good days stitching, worked on my Lighthouse project for Gaynors SAL and really pleased with how its' developing, I even did quite a bit of white ( Which I was dreading! ) down the side of the Lighthouse...........

 

On a not so happy note, I lost a follower yesterday, Have really taken it personally, even though my head is saying don't be silly! Probably all my moaning about my throat uh!!

Ryan lost his 4th Tooth tonight, Lost being the word here! He said it shot out of his mouth (??!) so we were on our hands and knee's looking for it for 15 minutes! I manged to find it, sticking out of my knee! That reminds me, Gotta sort out Tooth money!
He also had a lovely time at Beavers and got 3 badges, The scout trefoil and 2 badges for his arm depicting his Colony, If anyone has children who are in, or who have been in The Beavers, could you give me any advise as to where the badges go!
Will have to try and find out on the internet somehow! EEK!
Tomorrow I have another appointment with my doctor to get a note for work, and hopefully get some new advice re getting rid of this blasted thing! hee hee!
And amazing fact of the day.........My cat likes Blueberries!!! Olives, wotsits and Blueberries! Seriously! She is sooooo weird!!

Updates!!

So this is an Update post,here goes!!

Sickness
Firstly, those yikky virus germs are still getting the better of me, My throat is still real bad and swollen after 3 weeks!!!!! ALTHOUGH, I'm feeling much, much better in myself, I'm happy and Jolly and not letting it get me down :-)

Sewing
This is my SAL progress, did just over 700 stitches on it this week and am real pleased how its all coming along :-) NOT looking forward to doing all the white on the lighthouse, but hey, gotta be done! Will Tackle it a little at a time!



Weight
Well it was my weigh in day yesterday, I lost 7lb, so thats 15lb in total since Dec 31st :-) Am soo happy with that! My appetite is only about half of what it normally is at the moment, The realistic side of me is saying as soon as I'm better this will all go back on and I'll start bingeing again, but the wishful thinking side of me is saying my stomach must have shrunk a little after 3 weeks of very reduced food intake. Time will tell!! For those of you who dont know, I'm huge, the size of a bus, morbidly obese, and have been for years, for many reason this year I need this to change. Even just 1 lb a week is 52lb at the end of the year!

Friday
I had my lovely Friday night at Mums as usual! Dad made us his infamous curry (YUM!) and Mum and I played Upwords ( I won )watched the Big Brother Eviction and I sewed while she knitted. Lovely evening!

Ryan
Ryan started his clubs again this week, Beavers on Tuesdays and Golf on Thursdays, he's so obsessed with golf t the the moment, if he's not putting in our family room, he's playing Tiger Woods PGA on the Xbox!
He seems to have had a growth spurt too and is suddenly looking older, seems to have been since he lost his top tooth!
He's out at the moment spending the day with his Uncle Colly and Auntie Sue, he'll be getting spoiled rotten!

Well thats about it! Think I've rattled on for long enough!

Todays doings

Tody I finished and mounted Paddington, this will be for my Sister-in-Laws Birthday................

 

Also started a simple design from this months "Cross stitch Crazy" magazine for a Mothers Day card. I've changed the flower colours so I can use up bits and bobs of thread I have, but I'm not sure its' working! Will continue and see what happens!

My Glandular fever test came in as Negative, this is good, as I've heard horror stries of Glandular fever lasting for months! I'm glad its not that, although I'm now totally baffled as what it may be!
Off to play golf in the living room with Tiger Woods!

The Lighthouse

Today I stuck another 552 stitches on my Lighthouse design that I'm doing as part of Gaynors stitch-along.
My head is aching and I'm feeling grotty again so not done all that much today, Tis is really really starting to drive me nuts now, I hate feeling like this.
I've now got a gob full of ulcers too, Why did they come? Were my green and mouldy tonsils feeling lonely? Is there some sort of Bacteria party going on in my mouth?
Hey, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger? Right!
My beautiful son keeps asking if my throat is still gross, and shines his spiderman torch in my mouth, because he saw the doctor do that when she visited! Maybe he thinks having spider shadows superimposed on my tongue will make the nasties go away, Hey I'll try anything once!
Sorry for being a misery guts, I'm off to find my "Happy place" !

Paddington Progress

 

I'm pretty pleased how my little Paddington is coming on, Just have to tackle the backstitch now, and as you all know, I just LOVE backstitch! NOT!! The backstitch on the tiny Marmalade jars took ages, I was getting so frustrated! All of the lines are splitting Aida squares so it was pretty tricky, Grrrr!!
My throat is pretty bad again today, Yesterday I went to the doctor who had a look and confirmed that my tonsils are still septic, but antibiotics won't work so its' a case of just putting up with it. She's put "Septic tonsillitis" on my work sicknote, as we still haven't had my Glandular fever test results back from a week ago :-( I have to ring back again today to see if they've arrived.
I'm off this week at least!
Ryan went to his first Beavers meeting of 2009 last night, they played lots of games and had a singsong, he had a great time as usual, SO proud that he's getting out and mixing fine with different sets of people, I imagine as an only child this must be pretty daunting sometimes.Thats why its' so important to us that he does join as many clubs as he can.
He has golf tomorrow after school and is so excited already! He can't wait to tell the Golf instructor that he has his own set of Clubs! I'm sick of tripping over air-balls and his chipping net though! But, whatever makes him happy huh! :-)
Am doing OK on my diet so far too, made a lovely Leek and Potato soup yesterday, really filling and have lots left over for today too :-) I'm doing weightwatchers as thats what I've always been used to, so counting all my points! Since Dec 30th I've lost 13lb.( Obviously thats down to my illness too! Don't wanna be taking all the credit here!)
Off to get the ironing board out, grrrr, my worst chore!

More AOY, and a bear hat! (UPDATED)

Heres the AOY card that some of you couldn't see yesterday! Don't know why the original didn't work! Me and computers don't mix!


So heres' my AOY girl, I've mounted her and don't like this at all! Its way too "Fussy" for my taste so am really disappointed! Got a bit carries away with the embellishments! I plan to keep this for my Aunties Birthday now she likes busier cards.


I also started this lovely Paddington design today. I'm NOT a fan of Paddington, don't get me wrong! But I've so far enjoyed stitching him! He'll be for My sister-in-law, who's Birthday in is February. I didn't have any of the threads needed for this design and was about to go online and order them, when I thought, no, Make do, and colour matched as best I could with threads I already have! He's looking OK to me!

 

I'm still feeling weak, which is a real nuisance,and my throat is still swollen and painful, but I'm feeling tonz better. I have to go to the doctors tomorrow to get a note for work, with being off this week, but they still haven't got my blood test results back as yet.
Frank took me out on a mini shopping trip today as he was off work also, Only 10 minutes down the road to our local Matalan, but the fresh air did me good! I bought a new top, 2 pairs of earrings, slipper socks and a Birthday card. This is a lot for me as I rarely have money to spend so was a lovely treat! Also bought a lovely "Hello Kitty" tote bag, in JJB on the way back home. ( Thats soooo me!!! Go to a sports Superstore and come out with a Hello kitty bag!!)
Managed to get to the post office today as well! Wooo hoo! Have had parcels sitting around for over a week now so was glad for them to be on their way! Hope you all have a nice relaxing evening, Big Brother and sewing for me as per usual! ( Yes folks, I have no brain!)

Progress

I've made a little progress with my SAL project, started the actual lighthouse, and I'm pleased with how its' going so far....

 

Have also nearly finished the little AOY girl for Charlies' Birthday card, Just loved sewing this, and really like the way the colours have turned out. Not bad as I completely changed the colours from the original design!

 

Had a lovely afternoon with my Mum yesterday, she took me to "Borders" so I could get a few things I needed, Luckily you can park right outside the shop! I bought a 2009 insert for my filofax,2 Calenders ( Home/work) a Cavalier King Charles spaniel one for my Kitchen ( My Fave dogs) and a Salvador dali one for my Desk ( My favourite Artist) They were both reduced to £2! Also bought some quirky Birthday cards for my Brother, A Tshirt for him, and a lovely notebook for me ( Essential for noting my food intake each day now I'm dieting!)
It was a lovely treat, but was glad to get back to Mums and flop on the sofa! Mum made her legendary chicken soup ( I make it now too, she had it passed to her from my Grandma)which was lovely and comforting, then we played "Boggle" and "Boy/girl" before watching the Big Brother Eviction.
I phoned the Docs yesterday to get my blood results, but they won't be back until after 1.30pm Monday, at the very earliest. I feel pretty bad again today, my throat has kicked off again and have got the horribly familiar "Spiky" feeling in my tonsils again :-(
Ryan bought himself a set of proper Junior Golf Clubs yesterday while I was out at Mums, so our living room has been like St Andrews all day! Sick of tripping over golf balls! Have a very happy 7 year old though so its' well worth it!

Stitching progress 2009

I'm not dead!
In fact, I'm feeling much better! Yippee!!
Yesterday I went to the hospital for my Glandular Fever Blood test, the test was fine, But as I have hardly eaten a thing for 8 days I was real weak and my head was spacedout! Felt all lightheaded, so weird! Had to hang on to Mum for dear life, it was like an out of body experience! I do hope that nobody saw me! I just die of embarrassment!
But today I've started eating to get stronger again (Yippee) Howevr that means ll this lost weight will start going back on (Boo!) so I'm back on weightwatchers, not eating properly anyway, but will be eating healthily :-)
I'll be giving updates on my weight...well...until I gain..then I'll just sulk and not blog it!
Stitchy wise, I've done very litle with being ill, but here are my WIP's ( Works in progress) I'm going rotate these 3, I worked a little on my Lighthouse last night, Today I starte the card, then tomorrow I'll be working on the Bike dsign, the background is pretty boring though!



Oh and Gaynor, if you're looking at this, can you see my felt needlecase in the picture? It has a little heffalump on it! Not a posh antique needlecase like some people have, just a raggy old scrap! lol

 

 

Ryan got to renew his 10 week after school Golf club membership today, he's Golf mad at the moment, waiting for the weather to improve, so we can take him to the park to putt! At the moment he's enjoying the Golf on Wii Sports! And his Tiger Woods Xbox game!
Well I'm off to sort lunches for tomorrow, Yeah like you think I get a break when I'm sick?? No way!
Tomorow will be my first "Mum Friday" of 2009! Yay!!

Bleurgh update

***UPDATE***
Well the doctor has been out to see me, and is pretty certain that its Glandular Fever, with tonsillitis in there too, just to spice things up a bit.
I have to go get a blood test done asap to confirm this, but at the moment I'm too weak.
Hopefully later in the week, I'll be bouncing round, eager to experience the delights of our local drop in centre and their bloodsucking facilities!
Right now I'll just continue to look, and feel like, the Elephant man,and console myself with a nice old glass of water.

New Year???? Is it??

This is just a very very quick one for those of you who think I've fallen off the planet, Well erm yes I have!Fallen out of reality anyway!
I've been in bed since New Years Eve real sick :-( I never stay in bed so I must be ill, I also haven't eaten in 4 days, YES nothing at all but water in 4 days! Bad news is that my throat and tongue, and ear tubes and head tubes etc are that swollen I can't eat, even if I wanted to, Good news is that I've lost 15lbs! in 4 days! I know It'll go straight back on as soon as I eat again, but hey, theres not much of a plus side to this!
I think I have septic tonsillitis, at first we thought it was the winter vomiting bug, but the way things have swollen and where the pain is etc is defo throat/ear/tonsil related.
Haven't been able to do a thing, no sewing,reading,cooking, taken me all day just to stagger in and out of the shower.
Hopefully will be able to get a doctors appointment tomorrow and get started on antibiotics, if not guess I'll rip my own throat out!
Happy 2009! Things can only get better huh! :-)

P.S. Frank is doing his best bless him, but Gordon Ramsey he aint! Poor Ryan has had Potato Waffles and Chicken dippers for the last 4 days! BUT, because he's starting his dinners with some soup,and finishing with a bar of chocolate, Ryan is telling everyone who listens, that Dad is cooking 3 course meals !
