Happy Halloween folks!!!

Ryan had fun trick or treating, then there was a party in Neils house afterwards! Neil is "Dracula" on the photo's, and is Mattys' Dad, they live opposite us. As you can see, we always put our lit pumpkins on our window ledges every Halloween, we are a tiny street and it looks really cool!

Scenes and sunshine!

Today we are alternating between hail, torrential rain and bright clear sunshine!! Bizarre!!!
Heres the little metallic Bethlehem Scene I finished and mounted this morning.
I LOVE this simple but effective design, but HATE the time it took because of the metallic thread!! Grrrrr!! Maybe I'll try it in pale vari threads instead.
Right now Ryan is on his X-box, He is delighted its' half term and he can do what he wants! This afternoon we are going to our local indoor play centre, then he'll goto his Nans for dinner, She has him every Monday afternoon so he gets quality time with his Nan and Grandad without Mummy here getting her mush in!

Off to iron! YAWN............

Beavers,Christmas and cards!

Yesterday Ryan had his Beaver party!! He had such fun! From what I can gather there was a lot of games, party food and running around!! There were 4 different Beaver colonies at the party so a lot of new faces.
I am so happy we enrolled him in this group, he made a lot of new friends yesterday and they all got these fab Beavers shirts to commemorate Liverpool Capital of Culture year 2008!! ( The W.O.T.H. across the badge stands for "Walton on the hill" which is the Colony he belongs too, the Beaver is obvious, and the Bird is a LIVER Bird, the symbol of Liverpool) They all wore their shirts with pride, Ryan even wore it today! doesn't want to take it off!

Whilst Ryan was at the party for 2 hours Frank and I went emergency Christmas shopping! Ryan has asked for a Wii for Christmas, and I heard a few rumours about them being the No 1 wanted toy this Christmas, so we decided not to leave it any longer and hopped off to Toys R us!
Got the Wii, 2 games, and an accessory pack ( tennis racquet,Steering wheel,Golf club, baseball bat etc)So happy we have it now, thats the main part over and done with! Phew! We get paid this Friday, so will be on further shopping trips after payday!
Today the weather was AWFUL!! Ryan managed to play out with his friends Matty who lives opposite, for just about 1 hour only! I got a lot of cleaning washing and ironing done, finished and mounted my Christmas tree card and am well into another Christmas card with metallics, I HATE using metallics!

This week Ryan is off school, for half term. No solid plans yet, as the weather isn't looking too good :-(
I go see Bryan Adams with my friend Carmel on Tuesday! We are eating out first, can't wait!!

Creative Blog award!

Thank you so much to Daphine for nominating me for this award!! I'm chuffed to bits!! Daphine is an inspiration and I love getting to know her and her family through her Blog!

As with every award received here in blogland, there are rules that apply. You need to list six things that make you happy, and pass this award on to six creative bloggers. So, here it goes...

Six things that make me Happy.

1: Ryan! Not a suprise huh! I spend more time than I care to admit, creeping into his room to watch him sleep! he is my life! I still cannot believe I'm a Mum some days! I was told at 15 that kids would not be on the cards for me, so when Ryan decided to make our family a 3 it was a special bonus we were NOT expecting!!

2: Frank. Contrary to what I may blog sometimes, he does make me happy, and I do LOVE the bones of him!! yes, He is miserable (Especially when theres a camera about), Yes he has worn the same slippers for 8 years, despite having a closet full of new ones, Yes, he Loves anything that has a plug more than me. But I knew from the day I met him that we would be together forever, he has quirks, but heck, so do I !!

3: Family days out with my boys. I love ALL days out, whether it be to an indoor play centre, a country house, funfair..whatever... My VERY favourite thing, is to be out in the countryside, or woodland with a picnic! I have a fantastic Picnic hamper/cool bag thing that i just LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It came with Wine glasses in it, but I replaced them with beakers, I'm not that posh!

The plates, cutlery etc is in a fold down pocket at the front, then there is an insulated cool bag at the back that is BIG! YES I DO love it that much!!

4: My Hobies: Sewing, Blogging and Penpalling. I am quite a shy person, and I'm embarrassed about how I look for a few reasons. So getting to know friends through blogs, or letters is fantastic, I can make friends without scaring them face to face!! Brill! My oldest friend, Krystal, started as my Penpal, back when I was 11 years old!! I'm now 35 and we are in touch DAILY! The internet is a wonderful thing!!

5: My Fridays! OK my fridays at my Mum and Dads! This tradition started 8 years ago when I moved to my own home, I meet my Mum every Friday afternoon, we go shopping, and then make dinner together, I LOVE this time! We often talk about how it was when she was a girl, or my Grandma, or cooking over the years, swap recipes etc etc you get the idea, This is such a treasured time for me!!

6: Music! I love to listen to music! Wherever I go, my MP3 is with me. My Dad always listened to music when I was little, and I get my love of Rock Music from him. I mostly listen to music to change my mood, or evoke memories, hence why my MP3 reads like something out of the 80's or 90's!! Yes I have the "Grease", "Dirty Dancing" and "Commitments" soundtracks in amongst Bon Jovi, Abba, Queen and U2!

Now

Bloggers I'm nominating also... YOU ARE

1 Krystal
2 Shellie
3 Annikke
4 Becky
5 Lindsay
6 Ginnie

Have fun!!

Wonky Christmas tree!!

Today was Ryans' Halloween disco after school. He went in his Clone Trooper outfit and loved every minute!! He couldn't wait to show his friends the outfit, and when I asked if he had done much dancing,he said

"Nah, dancings' for girls, we just chased each other round the Hall the whole time!"

Yep, thats a normal, 7 year old boy thing to do!!

The weather was so bad today! Gale force winds with heavy rain isn't so good :-(
Apart from to-ing and fro-ing from school, I didn't go outside the door, in fact, I'm getting quite agorophobic. I'm starting to dread going anywhere apart from school! I have my Injections on Nov 12th, and then I'll be back in my usual routine, back at work, so I better snap out of it!
I had a good sleep last night, thankfully, 2 sleeping tabs did the trick and it was lights out by 11.30pm! REALLy early for me!I got loads done today, cleaning, laundry, ironing and even had time to stitch! I've started a cute wonky Christmas tree!

Its not finished yet, I have to do the star and flowers in 2 different pink colours, then backstitch. Quite like it though, quite quirky!
Just listening to my 80's rock CD's, remembering back to my obsession with Bon Jovi,Whitesnake,Ac/Dc, Alice Cooper,Motley crue etc.
Think I'm having some sort of mid life crisis! At least its' the rock stuff I'm Reliving, and not the Ra-ra skirts and legwarmered Fame days!! Heaven forbid!!

Off to backcomb my hair

Mounting and getting stabbed!

I'm out of sorts today, just not with it! Its' 1.30pm and I'm still not fully made up! The trowel is still in the Max Factor pot ready for me!
I've managed a measly 2 Mini Christmas card mountings, thats it. That was In between cleaning, getting the gammon joint prepared for dinner ( In the Crock) and being Harpooned in the heart by my Bra underwire!! Jeez what are those things made of!! Fancy being in A&E with a Bra injury!!
I'm off to find another Boulder Holder maybe with a little less scaffold involved!

I had 2 pieces of Star wars Birthday cake, and coffe for breakfast. Today I am rebelling!!!

Todays doings

This little candle was stitched with vari threads sent by Shellie! ( Thanks hun!) And the pattern copied by hand from her blog!I love the simplicity of this!
These 2 pictures are of the same bookmark, just on different backgrounds as you cannot see it that clearly. This is my first outing with plastic canvas! I'm not sure what exactly to do with it now, Whether to stitch all the remaining canvas so it doesn't look just bare plastic, or sew on a white backing fabric instead, to make the leters pop. I'm really not sure at all :-(

This will be the last fairy!! I promise!

OK I know you're already bored to tears with my fairies! But here is another I whipped up in between frivolities at the weekend! Using another vari thread for the Initial and stitched onto gold flecked aida. This will be for my friend Mel, who's Birthday is in November.

I am doing a little candle design of Shellies on Navy aida at the moment, which is not good, as I've bust my lamp and my eyes are not coping!! Then I'm going to be stepping right outta my comfort zone and trying plastic canvas. Don't know what I'll be doing on it yet, just bought a piece to try. Nothing newsworthy happened today, I cleaned and sewed, after the hectic weekend I was glad of a little peace and quiet!

Shellies snowflake!

I copied this from my Friend Shellies' blog, it was so quick and I'm so happy with the results! By the way, using the Vari thread she sent me!!

Happy Birthday Frank!! ( And thanks Shellie! )

Posted by Picasa

Frank has had a lovely Birthday! Today we have had my Mum and Dad over, and also Sue and Colly (Franks sister and Bro-in-law) which was nice. Then this evening we have been out for a lovely Chinese meal in our favourite restaurant "The Golden Castle", Food was fantastic and we had a real giggle!
Came home and sang Happy Birthday to Frank before having numerous "candle blowing out" sessions with Ryan! Who d'ya think picked the cake??????
Ryan is now in bed, I'm totally stuffed, watching "Independance Day" before turning in, Frank has tonight off work and is sipping red wine and watching Queen DVDs. By the way, the Queen T-shirt he has on in the photo's, was bought by his Sister at the concert.
Can I also just Thank my friend Shellie for the wonderful surprise on Friday!! Although we haven't been friends for long, and only recently met through Blogland, it sems we have tonz in common and we've hit it off famously! I received a wonderful package on Friday containing LOTS of different vari-thread spools, and lovely lighthouse Charts that I've been after. Shellie I was so shocked and touched by your generosity, you are a truly special person and I hope we'll be friends for a long, long time to come! Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness!

Queen Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Queen were FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!! Today I am hoarse and deaf!!! We had a brilliant night and I was so proud to be able to get tickets for Franks 40th Birthday, as he has been a fan since he was 14 and has never seen them live! ( They rarely tour now) I can't possibly express this experience in words, but I have never sang, sreamed, danced and sweated so much in my life!!! The pictures are not good as my camera doesn't "Do" darkness!! We had a beautiful meal beforehand in a French Restaurant in the City Centre, Ryan had dared me to get frogs legs, but I stuck with Mussels and Chicken instead! ( Not together!!) We also went to a rockin Irish bar on Matthew Street and sung and stamped along to some Irish folk classics! That place was heavin!! Today we have headaches, fuzziness and bad ears, but it was worth every bloody second!! Rock on !! Happy Birthday to my lovely Frank, even if you do sulk like Heck getting photo's taken!! Love you ...xxx...

Book Tag

I've been book tagged by Daphine!! here goes!!

Here are the rules;

Grab the nearest book. Open the book to page 56. Find the fifth sentence. Post the text of the next two to five sentences in your journal/blog along with these instructions. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST. Tag five other people to do the same.

I am having to actually photograph my page and book cover so as you can all check this, otherwise you will think I have made this up!! I DID NOT MAKE THIS UP!!!! CHECK ON THE INTERNET!!!

I currently have 2 books by my bed, Autobiographies, one is by Russell Brand, and the other by Billy Connolly, both excellent comedians!
I Have not read the Billy Connolly book yet, Given what I'm about to type, I don't know if I will!!
The Russell Brand passage on page 56 was even worse!

"Billy" - By Pamela Stephenson - The complete life story of a comic Genius.
Page 56...

"The opening line is all important" explains Billy. "say "Thank God your here!I was just walking across the room, when the biggest hairy spider came crashing out from behind the sideboard there and shot up the leg of my trousers. The bugger was poised to sink its fangs into my poor willie...""

How Excited am I???????????????????????

I go and see "Queen & Paul Rodgers" tomorrow!!!!!!
I know they're not the same without Freddy, but hey, Paul Rodgers is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes 3.20am!!!

Well, to answer a comment on my last post, I finally got to bed last night ( or this morning!??) at 3.20am!!!
This is because I heard bumps!!!! It was nothing more than a door banging in the wind, but I couldn't settle...
.... with my DH (*) working permanent nights, and having 2 attempted break ins under my belt,I don't sleep well; or should I say I don't sleep!! I find it comforting to be chatting online to people when I have my insomnia attacks as that makes me feel less alone! ( I know it doesn't make sense!!) hence why I was still chatting away to other nocturnal freaks at 3.20am!
I did compensate however, Usually when I'm working I get up at 5.30am as I start work at 7.30am, however today I did not wake before 7.30am! A lie in!!
I am SO out of sorts today!
HATE that feeling!!
I've spilt milk......tripped......dropped a cup.....and washed ALL the towels... bar one!
I'm feeling pretty groggy and the ironing ain't gonna get tackled until later!
Just hoovered, washed dishes, organised my Pattern/project file to keep my newly stitched projects clean and tidy, ohhhh, and I stitched another angel!

She's purple, I like purple, its my favourite colour ( well, technically, lilac is), those eagle eyes out there will notice that she is Halo-less and there are no stars; my eyes are like pee holes in the snow, I cannot handle metallics right now! how I managed a whole angel is beyond me!
Ryan is off to sports club after school tonight, so I have until 4pm before I have to go fetch him. Just as well!
He had a fab time at Beavers last night, he also got invites to 2 more parties yesterday!!!!!
Thurs Oct 23rd is the school Halloween fancy dress party, 4.30pm - 6.30pm. He informs me he is going as a Clone trooper, after questioning the Halloweenyness (!!) of this costume I was assured he was gonna wear it whatever, no matter what other creations I came up with!
Then he got an invite to an official Beavers party on Saturday 25th! This is a party for the Liverpool Walton "Colonies" to get together! ( How cute is it that their groups are called "Colonies!!!" ) He gets an embroidered polo Shirt which they all wear on the day, how cool is that!
Am off to rest my weary and gritty eyelids!
Krys,Yahoo booted me out and won't let me back in for now?? whats up with that??
If I manage any of the reindeer I'll blog later, but don't hold out any hope!!!

Christmas Angel.

Today I did a lot!
Hoovered the whole house from Top to bottom, washed all laundry, hung it all, dusted the whole house, cleaned the bathroom, made Breakfast and dinner and cleaned away after, Took and picked up Ryan from School, Took and Picked up Ryan from Beavers, answered emails and messages, chatted online with Shellie, Mel and Krys and actually got a Christmas Angel finished in one day! She is stitched with Green vari thread, although you can barely tell!

I'm now going to finish this little reindeer before moving onto to another Christmas angel, Purple one this time!

Fixing dates, and Fairies.... Again!!

Posted by Picasa

I got this little fairy done today in just an hour!! I love these designs and will be using them again for sure!! This is the first time I have attempted blackwork and I'm so impressed with the results, and how easy it is!! ( the Butterflys are shiny black, even though they look gray on the pic!)
I have some Blackwork Christmas card charts so may attempt one of them when my 2 other little Christmas card projects are done.
I also have another "J" card to finish by November and a "M" card, I'm tempted to do more of these!
Yesterday was fun! After spending all morning scouring the house ( this is a regular Sunday morning thing and WASN'T fun at all!) we had visitors. Franks' Sister and Bro-in-Law ( Sue and Colly) came to see us, had a great afternoon chatting and making arrangements for Saturday.
We've planned to meet Sue and Colly in Liverpool City centre at 3pm on Saturday and head to the Cavern Quarter and Matthew Street for drinks, before the dinner we've booked at a nice French Restaurant in the City. We're having an early dinner date, as the Queen Concert starts at 7.30pm so we need to be at the Arena for 7pm at the very latest.I'm so excited!! We never go out so this is a real treat!! They are likely to head back to our house when the concert is over as we have some Pop Quiz games on DVD that we like to play when a group of us are together.
Today I bought Frank a Star Wars Birthday cake, this was more for Ryans' benefit really! Also some "40" banners to stick up at the windows and will get some balloons later this week.
Well off to cook dinner, and to plan my next fairy!

P.S. Thanks Shellie for your help with the Slideshow!! Doh!!

Cookies!!!

Today the weather was not that great, so I decided to make chocolate chip cookies with Ryan, usually I do most of the work, but this time he did every last bit, even using the oven gloves and placing the baking tray in the oven! I would NOT usually let him do this, however, I saw an interview with a famous chef this week, who said he was encouraged to cook properly from the age of 5 and it was the best gift his mother had ever given him because he had such confidence in cooking when he was still a child.Ryan was delighted with the responsibility, even though I WAS standing so close to him I could have been a siamese twin! There is currently only one cookie left now!
.

Yesterday was my usual Friday ritual. I goto Mum and Dads for some "Me" time every Friday, whilst frank and Ryan have "Boys night" every Friday! ( Boys night involves copious amounts of X-Box,Pringles,Star Wars movies and Ice-cream usually)
I go shopping with Mum in the aftenoon, we make dinner together ( I love this time, as we usually talk about cookery and how it was when Mum was a child, and recipes Grandma used to make) we eat dinner when Dad gets in from work, then chat whilst playing card games and Board games. We have done this FOREVER!! When I lived at home we always used to do it, and since I have had my own place for the last 8 years this has been a regular thing.Mum and I both adore "Our Fridays" as we call them! everyone we know, my friends, Mums friends are all envious of our Fridays!

I have been collecting wooden spoons for the lat few years (in fact about 3 years), I keep them in a flowerpot on my kitchen windowsill and LOVE them! I get a new one each time I got on holiday and also have had some given to me by my Mum, and also have 3 of my Nans spoons. Nan died in April this year so her spoons are extra special. She loved painting, just as a hobby, mainly glass painting, but after she passed my Aunt found this painted wooden spoon she'd done for me. isn't she just great!

Well off to cook chicken salad for dinner, tonight is sewing, board games (Ryan already has "Operation" out ready!) and "The X Factor" on TV!

Hope you all have fun this weekend!!

Proud as punch!

Well today I was Stepford wife. After a comment that was made recently I felt v v guilty about sitting sewing in my newly aquired free time.
I think I'd given the impression that I'd done Nothing at all but sew, which of course isn't true, but all yesterday and today this has been on my mind.
My boys get a home cooked meal every night, packed lunches made, house cleaned, clothes washed and ironed and laid out,so I'm not THAT bad in the great scheme of things.
Because I'm used to getting up early for work(ie, 5.30am) and I'm an insomniac (bedtime 2am usually) I DO have a lot of time when I'm not working.Hence the sudden spurt of sewing.I know I don't have to justify myself on here, I just kinda felt I needed to.

Anyway.
Today was excellent. After going through the house like a tazmanian devil cleaning nd ironing all morning, put dinner in the crock, I settled down and finished my "D" fairy for Debbie :-) This will be the last (Hooray I hear you cheer!) as I want to get back to Christmas stuff now.
Ryan was in his after-school Golf club until 4.30pm, Frank and I met him and went into school to meet his teacher. Every October you get a "Meet the Teacher" session, to discuss the curiculum for the forthcoming school year, and discuss your childs' progress and behaviour.
Mr Sheering gave us a glowing report for Ryan, said he's an absolute pleasure to teach and as Parents we should be extreemly proud of him as he is a credit to our parenting skills!
If you could actually bust right open with pride I would have!
So Thank you Ryan for just being you! We appreciate all your hard work and effort in school which is clearly paying dividends.
We love you more than life itself.

Franks Birthday Present

Its Franks' Birthday on October 19th, as well as a "Queen" concert ticket (he has been a fan since he was 12 years old!!) and some aftershave, I had this picture enlarged to 10" x 15" and I'm out looking for a frame tomorrow. I took this shot on holiday in Cornwall in June, we were dodging the tide at Sunset, we all have wonderful memories of this evening and of the whole holiday in fact. This is one of my favourite pictures of Ryan and his Daddy!

More fairy finishes

I finished these 2 today, and started YET ANOTHER fairy! I'm kinda hooked! (like you never guessed!)
I would like to say I've done varied and interesting things all day, cherishing my free time and making for an interesting and captivating blog.I WOULD like to say that, but I can't.......
What I have done, is got all the cleaning/washing/poo emptying out of the way first thing, took Ryan to school, then sat on my fat backside all day sewing and eating Haribo, I deserve shares in Haribo I've eaten that much, In fact the coroner is likely to be putting "Death by Haribo" on my death notice if this carries on! It's approaching Halloween, the sweets are TOO cheap for me to resist, and I discovered this afternoon that my local shop ( ie. 2 minutes walk away from my house) now does haribo Licorice! AARRRHHHH I LOVE licorice, I LOVE Haribo, this is a bad bad thing, and we ALL know what eating too much licorice does to our Bowels!
I'm needing a whole lot of Willpower here! Anyone got any spare???

..xxx...

Parents evening tomorrow at school, Ryan is really excited, Thats got to be a good sign!

Fantastic News!!!

OK I'm not going to go into gruesome detail here, but 5 weeks ago I had a smear that did not go well. The nurse told me my cervical cells were pratically non-existant and I bled abnormally during the procedure and for 2 days afterwards. She said it was likely I'd be called to the hospital for further tests.
I have had surgery in the past to remove pre-cancerous cervical cells, and had such a bad experience I didn't have a PAP smear for 8 years.Hence why I have been worried sick for the last 6 weeks.
As you can imagine, my family and I have been on tenderhooks waiting for these results. Well today I got the letter giving me the All Clear :-) Yippee!!! This is SUCH a relief, I actually cried when I got the result ( as did my Mum, and dad sounded pretty choked on the phone too!) Looks like "The Boss" has taken note and has done me a big favour! I'll be sure to go for my Smear tests as soon as they are due in future, and all you ladies, no matter how embarrassed, or uncomfortable, you MUST go and be tested on time.Don't be stupid like me!
I have also just had my appointment with the hand specialist. She can feel an abnormal nodule (??) in my thumb joint, had a good waggle round with it and decided I would benefit from the steriod injection. She booked me in for this on November 12th, and has given me a note to stay off work until at least a week after the injection.I'm glad its' all in hand (excuse the Pun!)
I have a wonderful smelling Hotpot in the oven for dinner, will post the recipe later for anyone who's interested.

Thank you for all your prayers and support

These are one of my favourite Birthday card designs, I have been sewing these "Fairy ABC" cards for years now, think everyone I know has had one!!
I have decorated this little 'un with Navy satin adhesive ribbon and a tiny silver dragonfly charm ( That did not photograph very well)
Have nearly finished another of these so be prepared for more!!
